We have made improvements to our website to make our lens rental process even better. When you view a specific lens, you will be asked for your postal code in order to see rental availability. Behind the scenes is a database of Canadian postal codes and shipping times. This improvement will mostly benefit customers close to our London, Ontario location who may need a lens on short notice. It should provide some benefit to all customers by giving us more accurate information on when lenses will return.
We have also improved our shipping information page to include sections for both customer and special shipping details. This is in response to requests from a number of customers who wanted rental lenses shipped to a work address where they would be during the day or corporate clients with different people handling the purchasing and the photography. The special shipping section is optional and will automatically fill using the customer information if the Use Customer Information button is selected, which is the default.
We review this information carefully during our security checks, so accuracy and clarity is important. It is also important that the customer information match the credit card used for payment. We have had a few instances where a spouse, child and even a boyfriend used the credit card of someone else. Minor as this might seem, it violates the terms and conditions of most credit cards and police might even consider it criminal. If you don't have a credit card of your own, ask the other person to rent the lens on your behalf using their name and card.
