We are often asked about options for insuring rented equipment. The first, and simplest option, is to "self-insure" meaning to accept responsibility for the gear and be prepared to pay the cost to repair or replace it. This is what most customers do.
You can ask your home insurance agent or broker about possible riders for rented equipment. Some insurance companies may consider it while others won't. This option is more common with professional photographers who already have insurance for their camera equipment.
Finally, short-term insurance for rented equipment can be purchased from GearPolicy.ca. Lens Lenders is not affiliated with Gear Policy and does not receive any commissions from insurance sales. We can, however, provide all the information that Gear Policy may require, including replacement costs and serial numbers.
